- Description
Invisible Cities trains people who have experienced homelessness to become walking tour guides of their own cities. With tours in Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland, they were awarded Best Community Tour in the world by Lonely Planet in 2021.
Invisible Cities are running two guided tours at the Gathering: a "Women of Edinburgh" tour on Tuesday, and this "Crimes and Punishment" on Wednesday [please note that this replaces the previously-scheduled "City of Migration" tour.] Join Sonny on his unique tour of Edinburgh to discover stories of historical crimes and their punishment. You will also learn about social projects that support the city's most vulnerable residents. From Maggie Dickson's to Deacon Brodie (can you guess which famous book he inspired?) you will go on a loop to Lawnmarket (not as far as the Castle) before heading back to the EICC!
Please book onto this event as places are limited - only those who have booked will be able to attend. Assemble at the table near the cloakroom in the Strathblane Hall, please look out for the Invisible Cities guides with their uniform and tour signs. (Please note: there is a Walking Scotland Health Walk assembling nearby, make sure you join the right walk.) The tour will leave at 12.30pm sharp.
