Leuchie House
Why you should vote for Leuchie House for the People’s Choice Award
Because we can transform lives, beyond the respite break. Our guest Bob is the perfect example. He has MS, lost use of his limbs, and his life was bleak - until he came to Leuchie. Bob said that at night-time he felt trapped in a 'black hole' as he was put to bed and left alone from 8pm to 7.30am - the only time carers were available. Our team set Bob up with voice-activated controls and his life has changed immeasurably. He now switches on lights, opens curtains, turns on the TV/radio and calls friends all with the control of his voice.
Leuchie House, Scotland's National Respite Centre for people living with neurological conditions, has made giant strides over the past year by embracing digital initiatives and innovation. We are particularly proud to have established a new Centre for Enabling Technology, led by a skilled team, which empowers people affected by conditions such as MS, MND and Parkinson's to enjoy greater independence - both at Leuchie, and when they return home. We have installed SMART technology in all of our bedrooms, embarked on an exciting partnership with the National Robotarium, and saved the NHS thousands through a digital pressure sore mapping system.
