Jane Clifford - Parkinson's UK Scotland
Why you should vote for Jane Clifford - Parkinson's UK Scotland for the People’s Choice Award
Jane’s our volunteer of the year because of the way that she worked with her fellow volunteer educators to transfer our in-person social care training programme to virtual delivery during the pandemic.
Thanks to Jane, we were able to reach isolated social care clients with Parkinson’s - and support frontline care workers - when they needed us most.
Jane led a collaborative process to develop digital course content. She also supported her fellow volunteers by building skills and confidence to deliver the training in this new way. Her empathetic approach and focus on what matters kept people engaged and on board.
Parkinson’s is a complex, progressive brain condition. Over time people need increasing levels of care. Volunteer educators like Jane inspire care professionals to deliver more effective care.
Jane enabled our 30 volunteer educators to continue to support professionals - and their clients with Parkinson’s - during extraordinarily difficult times. She shows how volunteers can take the lead, sharing knowledge and skills for the benefit of others.
Jane wears her expertise lightly, and enables everyone to feel valued and heard. She manages her volunteering alongside supporting her husband Jim, who has Parkinson’s, and while living with her own long term health conditions.
