The Volunteer Tutors Organisation

The Volunteer Tutors Organisation (established 1977) provides educational support to children and young people who need it most, regardless of their background or ability to pay. Our tutoring support is tailored to each pupil’s individual learning needs. We work collaboratively with schools and other partners to maximise the opportunity for success and reduce the poverty-related attainment gap in Scotland.  

With a view to educate the children in our Learning Hubs, we created our Sustainability and Climate Crisis Programme with the help of a field specialist and launched it across our 26 Learning Hubs from September 2023. The programme has taught our 315 pupils about what is impacting our world and what they can do to be part of the action. Our young people have gained a real understanding of what actions they can do day-to-day to promote sustainable living and move towards a more sustainable future. They can also convey these complex concepts to their families and peers.
