National Ugly Mugs (NUM)

National Ugly Mugs (NUM) is a UK-wide charity aiming to end all forms of violence against sex workers. We provide safety tools and resources, casework support, mental health resources, emergency financial support, vocational support, and an in-person community space at NUMbrella Lane in Glasgow.

In 2023, we welcomed 281 sex workers through our doors at NUMbrella Lane, our drop-in space in Glasgow. Our unique space places sex workers first, being led by and for members of the community. Here, our members are able to access harm reduction supplies, a food bank, a clothing swap, language support, events, and build connections with others. Our victim support caseworker also provided support to 48 sex workers following harm.

Members shared that NUMbrella Lane has improved their mental health and sense of community: “I’m grateful for the space that NUMbrella Lane provides. It stops me feeling so alone.”
