Why you should vote for SOHTIS (Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland) and Simon Community Scotland for the People’s Choice Award

Our vision is to see the end of human trafficking in Scotland. The buying and selling of men, women and children is happening across the country. It is a growing crime, hidden in plain sight, reducing people to commodities and inflicting the most horrendous abuse. Led by our core values; compassion, justice, dignity and respect, SOHTIS is committed to: -preventing, identifying and recovering victims of human trafficking -empowering survivors as they rebuild their lives -advocating for the systemic changes needed to end the exploitation of trafficked people.

SOHTIS and Simon Community Scotland have joined in an innovative partnership committed to reducing human trafficking in Edinburgh. Evidence shows a strong correlation between homelessness and human trafficking and this joint post is seeing transformational change in the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in Edinburgh whilst developing a model of practice which has the potential to address some of the most challenging homelessness issues in Scotland. Together we are: -recovering victims of trafficking and bringing them to safety -providing prevention opportunities which build resilience -training and second tier support for frontline workers
