Overall aim

An opportunity to hear about the Scottish Government’s Place and Wellbeing Programme which has a focus on enhancing the capacity of the community and voluntary sector to help tackle Scotland’s health inequalities.

Description

The Scottish Government’s Place and Wellbeing Programme aims to support community-led action within the communities who experience the most disadvantage. We want to strengthen local community and voluntary organisations to address health inequalities by:

  • Increasing the influence these organisations have in decision-making that impacts on the building blocks of health and wellbeing in their communities.
  • Improving the ways in which we fund, so organisations can spend more time on the activities that matter.
  • Enhancing knowledge and understanding across the community and public sectors through sharing data, expertise, and other local assets.

During this event, attendees will hear an overview from the Place and Wellbeing Programme team. This will be followed by a panel discussion on how, together, we can make the changes needed to empower the community and voluntary sector to co-create the opportunities for people to live well locally. Attendees will be able to question the panellists and provide feedback on the direction of the Programme.
