West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare

We hope you will vote for West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare as it would be a lovely thank you to the many wonderful people in West Dunbartonshire and beyond who support us so generously with food, money and Babybank and School uniform donations. We quickly adapted our working practices to the challenges which Covid brought and managed to absorb the 84% increase seamlessly, doing this despite a reduction in volunteers of 98% and only having 5 staff members. Our delivery service has also enabled us to reach people who were unable to queue, such as the elderly and disabled.

West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare provides support to anyone affected by poverty across West Dunbartonshire. We offer Emergency Food Provision, a Babybank, a School Uniform Bank, School Holiday Brunch Bag Project, a Fuel Poverty Project, and a Christmas Toybank. Due to Covid, we had to close the venues we used and started delivering support direct to people's homes. This worked so well and is a much more dignified way of supporting people, that when restrictions eased, we decided to continue this method of distribution. In 2020, we saw an 84% increase in the number of people requesting support.
