SCVO members' prize draw

On this page you'll find information about SCVO's members' prize draw at the Gathering 2025

SCVO members are invited to visit the SCVO stand at the Gathering 2025 on 4 and 5 February to enter a prize draw to win a professionally-made short film about the work and impact of your organisation. The prize is worth up to £1,500.

Here are all the details and information to be aware of when you enter our prize draw:

Entering the prize draw

  • The prize draw entry is open to over 18s only
  • You must be an SCVO member organisation to enter
  • SCVO employees and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter
  • Entry to the prize draw is free
  • Entry is only available in-person, via postcard between 8am and 4pm Tuesday 4 February 2025 and between 8am and 3pm Wednesday 5 February 2025 at the Gathering 2025, taking place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre
  • To enter the prize draw you must provide your full name, email address, organisation name and a reason why you love your SCVO membership
  • If you'd like support to complete a prize draw entry, please speak to a member of the SCVO team at the stand
  • We’ll only count one entry per organisation in the prize draw
  • Prize draw entries close at 3pm Wednesday 5 February 2025
  • Prize draw entries will be checked for multiple entries from the same organisation and only one entry per organisation will be entered into the prize draw
  • The winning organisation will be drawn at random at around 4pm on Wednesday 5 February and the winning organisation will be contacted by email the following week after SCVO staff have verified the organisation's membership details
  • No cash alternative will be made and the prize is non-transferable
  • The prize must be claimed by the winning organisation (by acknowledgement via email) by 12 March 2025

The prize

  • There is one prize available
  • The prize consists of the filming and production of one (up to) two-minute film and one (up to) 30-second social media clip, derived from the main film
  • The £1,500 (approximate) value of the prize includes 1 pre-production video call, 1 day of professional filming (max 7 hours) at the winning organisation’s premises in Scotland (or in the vicinity of their premises), 2 days of professional editing (max 7 hours per day), the cost of the professional filmmaker’s return travel and one night’s overnight accommodation if necessary (maximum total value of travel and accommodation is £300)
  • Filming will take place from April 2025 onwards, at a date to be mutually agreed between the winning organisation and the professional filmmaker
  • The winning organisation should provide a safe place to film
  • The winning organisation should arrange for staff/volunteers willing to be filmed to be available on the agreed filming date
  • The winning organisation is responsible for arranging consent for participants and for providing written confirmation of consent to the filmmaker
  • Events may occur that make it impossible to carry out filming/editing. If filming/editing is not able to take place on the agreed dates due to reasons beyond SCVO's or the professional filmmaker's control, we will do everything we reasonably can to rearrange at another mutually agreed time
  • If filming/editing is not able to take place on the agreed dates due to reasons beyond the winning organisation's control, the winning organisation should do everything it reasonably can to provide as much notice as possible to the filmmaker and to SCVO (via email to commsteam@scvo.scot).

Promotion

  • The winning organisation will own the final version of the film and social media clip
  • SCVO will have the right to share the final film/clips on our media channels
  • The professional filmmaker will have the right to share the final films/clips on their own media channels and in their portfolio
  • The name of the winning organisation will be shared on SCVO's marketing channels
  • The winning organisation will be invited to provide testimony (written and visual) for inclusion in SCVO marketing and communications materials about their experience of being a prize winner and their experience of working with the professional filmmaker
