Exercise 2: Five shot sequence
This resource is kindly provided by media co-op.
Ask your colleague to enact a simple action such as writing an email on a laptop, writing notes, packing a goody bag.
Then film a five shot sequence:
- Hands: What?
- Face: Who?
- Wide: Where?
- Over the Shoulder: What do they see?
- Your Choice: extreme close up, different angle or a panning shot?
Remember each clip needs to be at least 10 seconds long and watch the framing!
When finished, play it back and ask yourself:
- Is the framing as good as it can be?
- Are all shots clean with no clutter in the background?
- Are all shots clearly different in sizes?
- If I had to keep two shots only, what shots would tell the story best?
