Sustainability and sisterhood: Women’s Fund for Scotland conference was a one-day event designed to encourage and equip women-led organisations with the tools, skills, and networks they need to thrive. It took place on Tuesday 25 March 2025 at the Barracks in Stirling.

Hosted by the Women’s Fund for Scotland, the conference aimed to foster collaboration, build capacity, and strengthen sustainability for the diverse groups it supports. Through engaging sessions, tailored workshops, and meaningful networking opportunities, this event offered a unique platform for attendees to learn, connect, and grow.

Event hosts

The event is hosted by the Women's Fund for Scotland, with facilitation from SCVO. Support for this conference was generously provided by Tides Foundation.

The Women's Fund for Scotland's mission is to invest in women’s organisations by making grants, as well as promoting awareness, influencing significant change, and creating impact for the benefit of women and girls in Scotland.

Meet the speakers

Andrew Tweedy

Andrew joined RSSWS in March 2020 – a challenging time to take on a new role to say the least!  He leads a staff team of 7 part time staff based all across Scotland and is responsible for all aspects of day operations and supporting Trustees with governance and strategy decisions. Previously he was Chief Executive at Carers of East Lothian (a local carers centre supporting unpaid carers). He held this post for 7 years during which time he was elected as the 3rd Sector representative on the HSCP’s statutory Strategic Planning Committee, before moving to his current post as Chief Executive of RSSWS.

Beth Reid

Beth has worked in the funding and community development for almost 6 years, currently working with The Wood Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI). Her educational background is in politics, equality and human rights, with a focus on gendered health inequality. She is committed to being a part of creating a fairer, equitable world with the help of real systemic change and looks forward to being part of such an important conversation.

Bruce Tait

Bruce Tait is a former charity CEO and Director of Fundraising, who now runs BTA, Scotland’s leading non-profit consultancy. He has worked in the sector for 35 years and provides fundraising and strategic support for dozens of charities each year. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and sits on the board of three UK charities.

Dee Gildea

Dee’s role at the Corra Foundation is to lead the Community Grants Team which involves developing, designing and managing grant programmes focused on supporting communities to address inequality and disadvantage. Underpinning this work is a commitment to participatory and community led grantmaking. Dee is inspired by the passionate and devoted work of groups supporting their communities right across Scotland. She values the importance of community and connection and is delighted to support Corra’s relational approach to grant making through the organisation’s ‘Voice-Power-Change’ Strategy, that helps organisations to make positive change for their communities.

Dominique Mitchell

Dominique has been a Senior Policy Officer within the Scotland Office of the ICO for over 4 years specialising in data protection law and areas such as DPIAs, data sharing, and the right of access. Her areas of focus and engagement has revolved around local government, the third sector, central government and the third sector.

Dominique has written about the ICO's work Supporting the right of access for people with experience of the care system in Scotland .

Helen Wray

Helen Wray is the Head of Philanthropy and Quality at Foundation Scotland, Scotland’s community foundation. With extensive experience in donor stewardship, effective grantmaking, and social justice, Helen works closely with donors, communities, and partners to ensure funding is impactful and sustainable. She leads on quality assurance and best practices, supporting the foundation’s mission to strengthen communities across Scotland.

Jenny Lindsay

Jenny Lindsay is a writer, poet, performer, and essayist based in Ayrshire. She won the inaugural John Byrne award for Critical Thinking in 2020, and was shortlisted for the Anne Brown Essay Prize in 2024. Her debut nonfiction book, Hounded was published by Polity in 2024, and she has written poetry and prose for numerous publications and anthologies as diverse as the Irish Pages, The Spectator, the Lyceum Theatre, and the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

Kuladharini

Kuladharini is a currently funding officer for the National Lottery’s Community Fund, focusing on West Dunbartonshire. Previously, she held leadership roles in various Glasgow based and Scotland wide charities. An East coaster by birth and education, she has lived and worked in the West most of her life.

Lynsey Kidd

Lynsey has worked across the third and public sectors and is an experienced charity leader.  Attracted to the opportunity to work with the breadth of the third sector, Lynsey joined Evaluation Support Scotland as CEO in Nov 2024.

In her previous role as Executive Director at the Scottish Cot Death Trust, Lynsey lead the work of the organisation and was committed to delivering high quality bereavement care for those affected by the sudden unexpected death of a child, and to offering a robust, evidence-based training programme for those working with families.

Rhonda McLean

Rhonda runs the SCVO Information service providing help and support to voluntary organisations across Scotland, she also writes a lot of content for the information pages on the SCVO website. Rhonda also supports data protection compliance within SCVO after completing a postgraduate qualification in Data Protection Law and Information Governance in 2018.

Yvonne Somerville

Yvonne is an experienced digital marketer and keen advocate for women with an extensive background in third sector projects. Yvonne has organised and facilitated many not for profit events, to support female entrepreneurs and has supported many digital launch and rebrand campaigns.
