More Than a Minibus: diversity and impact of Community Transport in Scotland
Report mapping and analysing Scotland’s Community Transport sector. As well as presenting information on the community transport sector, the report makes a number of recommendations for the sector and its funders including: fair, adequate and multi-year funding ; procurement strategies to prioritise not-for-profit providers, build community wealth and deliver social value in service commissioning; tackling driver shortages by investing in drivers, and paying Living Wage; investing in volunteers; closing the Net Zero funding gap; and investing in health and social care related transport.
Key Findings
- In 2021, CTA had 166 members in Scotland delivering a wide range of community-led, not- for-profit transport services with accessibility, inclusivity and sustainability at their heart
- 37% are primary purpose operators, 63% have community transport as a secondary purpose
- 1,131 paid staff
- 2000+ volunteers
