Understanding the voluntary sector social services workforce in urban and rural settings: similarities and differences

The voluntary sector plays a key role in the delivery of social services in Scotland. As at December 2008 the social services sector employed approximately 197,000 individuals in Scotland. Nearly thirty per cent were employed by the voluntary sector.
