Understanding the voluntary sector social services workforce in urban and rural settings: similarities and differences
The voluntary sector plays a key role in the delivery of social services in Scotland. As at December 2008 the social services sector employed approximately 197,000 individuals in Scotland. Nearly thirty per cent were employed by the voluntary sector. Using data (analysed by the SSSC) from the Scottish Government and the Care Commission, this presentation outlines the nature of the voluntary sector social services workforce in rural and urban settings, with a view to highlighting similarities and differences.
