Abbie Wilson - Young Scot
Why you should vote for Abbie Wilson - Young Scot for the People’s Choice Award
Abbie is our nominee for Trustee of the year because for the past seven years she has successfully managed her life as a young person, her academic studies, alongside her commitment and responsibilities for Young Scot. Abbie has played a fully active and committed part of the Young Scot Board, whilst successfully progressing her studies to become a doctor at the University of Dundee. Despite her age, Abbie is already an experienced trustee with a demonstrated history of working in non-profit organisations in leadership. Abbie is also Co-Chair of Feeling Strong UK – Dundee’s youth-led mental health & wellbeing charity.
Abbie Wilson is Vice-Chair of Young Scot. During her time as a young volunteer with us, Abbie supported us by taking part in our Youth Commission on Smoking Prevention, by volunteering for the Commonwealth Games Youth Legacy Ambassadors programme, and volunteering for Year of Young People 2018. In 2015 at age 16, Abbie became our youngest-ever Vice-Chair. She did this whilst both studying for her school exams and laterally studying medicine at university. In 2022, Abbie will stand down as Vice-Chair of Young Scot to focus full-time on her medical studies and future career as a doctor.
