Maslow's Community
Why you should vote for Maslow's Community for the People’s Choice Award
Maslow’s Community is a small charity with a vast impact. This year was special for us because we were able to provide relief and support to greater numbers of people. We were able to expand our outreach services, open a community hub in Govan and double the number of people which we provide support to.
This was all down to our amazing volunteers and staff. Maslow’s Community is a volunteer-led organisation with 25 volunteers at the heart of our decision making process. 90% of our volunteers have lived experience of the asylum system or homelessness.
Maslow’s Community purpose is to empower refugees, asylum seekers and those experiencing poverty and hardship by enabling them to improve their financial and social situation and promote community cohesion.
This year Maslow’s has provided free clothing and household items to 8000 people. We have opened a community hub in Govan which offers free, fully inclusive and community integrated services and classes. Finally our outreach services have expanded from serving one hotel accommodating asylum seekers to now serving seven hotels and helping 350 residents who would not have access to shoes, clothing and other essential items otherwise.
