Gillian Smith - Queensferry Churches' Care in the Community

Why you should vote for Gillian Smith - Queensferry Churches' Care in the Community for the People’s Choice Award

Queensferry Churches' Care in the Community has been supporting older people and their carers since 1993 across South Queensferry, Ratho, Ratho Station, Dalmeny, Newbridge and Kirkliston. As the only charitable organisation in this rural area offering comprehensive community-based support, we provide a lifeline for older individuals facing isolation, health challenges, and mobility difficulties.

Gillian Smith has been nominated for SCVO's Employee of the Year Award in recognition of her exceptional dedication to Queensferry Care since joining in 2000, and for going above and beyond in 2024 with a phenomenal fundraising effort that mobilised staff and volunteers, energised the team, engaged the community, raised awareness of our mission to support older people and their carers, and brought in a whopping £2,400. Gillian completed the Marcothon challenge—running daily and covering 142.8km throughout December—and her energy, creativity, and commitment truly embody the spirit and resilience of the voluntary sector.
