Rohan Seilman - A.R.Ts Afternoon
Why you should vote for Rohan Seilman - A.R.Ts Afternoon for the People’s Choice Award
A.R.Ts Afternoon have been breaking down socio-economic barriers to the arts and supporting young people (Ages 8 - 25) within Edinburgh and the Lothians for nearly 30 years, by providing free-to-access arts-based youth group sessions, focusing mainly on Samba drumming ensembles (Pulse of the Place), without the need for prerequisite knowledge, experience or financial outlay. Operating predominantly within high SIMD areas, A.R.Ts Afternoon offer a vibrant, inclusive and safe environment for self-expression and growth, helping young people thrive personally, educationally, and socially through peer collaboration, community-based performance opportunities and the undeniable positive energy of Samba music!
Rohan Seilman is an incredibly compassionate, supportive, engaging person who wholeheartedly deserves the Employee of the Year Award. Dedicating nearly 30 years as Project Leader, his dependability, humour, and love of music uplift and enrich the day-to-day lives of the young people he supports, particularly those facing poverty, discrimination, mental health issues, and disabilities. Despite having to cope with his own trials and tribulations, including considerable health challenges caused by a stroke and heart attack, Rohan works tirelessly to support equal opportunities for local young people and the continuation of free-to-access music education, through A.R.Ts Afternoon. A true inspiration!
