Makes loans to employee or community owned social enterprises, including co-operatives, community businesses, development trusts and businesses developed from the charitable and voluntary sector. They welcome applications from new enterprises, workers' co-operatives, employee buyouts, housing and renewable energy co-operatives, community owned shops, pubs and facilities and community shares issues.

The fund supports projects located within or directly benefiting one or more of the three community council areas of Huntly, Strathbogie and Tap O Noth and the area of the Cabrach Community Association. It will support projects which will support positive change and strategic impact, in particular: - improve community services and facilities- increase participation in and access to contemporary culture, events and recreational activity- preserve and enhance the natural environment for residents and visitors- promote rural regeneration- celebrate the area's cultural, historic and archaeological heritage.They also offer two thematic schemes: Volunteer Development Bursaries; and School Transport Costs.

Grants are available to community groups or for projects which have future long term benefit for the community.Community group grants are available to any organisation which consists of a reasonable majority of Strathnairn residents, has open access to all of the target population for that group and has an identifiable relevance to the wider Strathnairn community.

If you are interested in starting a tenant and resident’s association in your local area you can apply for a grant to help meet running costs of the group.The grant can cover the cost of:- Publicising and holding meetings- Responding to requests for help, from tenants and the Council- Producing information for those they represent- Keeping up to date with developments in housing- Organising events and initiatives that benefit their community
