Good causes benefit in £1 million giveaway

Members of the public were invited to nominate organisations close to their hearts

Every three months, five shortlisted projects will be voted for by John Good Group employees. These five charities will all receive a share of £15,000 – the more votes a cause receives, the bigger the donation. They will support small organisations that have a positive impact on communities, people or the environment.

The fund supports projects that advance education within the Falkirk Council area and provide or assist in the provision for recreation and other leisure time occupation for the benefit of the general public.

The SFP Trust is dedicated to supporting the grassroots level of the game in Scotland with funding opportunities for initiatives which assist in encouraging and sustaining greater participation in football. Applications are invited from any football organisation, from senior clubs in the Scottish Premier League to children's teams competing at a local level.

Muaitheabhal Community Wind Farm Trust distributes a community benefit fund available from the Beinn Mhor Wind Farm. Priority areas which will benefit from the fund are Pairc, Kinloch and the villages along Loch Seaforth in North Harris. Funding priorities are: - supporting population growth; - reducing geographical handicap and remoteness; - supporting young people/ families / older people to live in our community; - improving community infrastructure; - sustaining, promoting and expanding our natural environment and crofting; - supporting our Gaelic language and culture;- social inclusion and supporting vulnerable groups.

The Fund is provided by EDF Energy Renewables, the developer of the Longpark wind farm. It benefits the Community Council area of the Parish of Stow in the Scottish Borders. It provides grants to support charitable activities that: - Enhance quality of life for local residents- Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities- Promote community spirit and encourage community activityGrants may support a wide range of costs, for example the costs of equipment, staff or sessional workers, consultations, running costs for local groups, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities, and so on.
