The Sustainable Development Fund as part of SSE's community benefit arrangements from its onshore renewable energy developments in Scottish Borders primarily the Clyde wind farm extension in the Clyde Valley. The fund supports strategic projects in the Scottish Borders region and any successful application must meet one or more of the following outcomes: - Creating opportunities: Create opportunities for education and employment through activities that develop skills and improve an individual’s chance of entering the workplace.- Empowering communities: Empower communities to become more resilient through measures which demonstrate long-term social, environmental or economic improvements. - Sustainable places: Stimulate meaningful regeneration to improve or enhance local infrastructure, landscape, biodiversity or heritage and make a lasting difference to the places we live, work and visit.For this round of the fund the panel have an interest in projects which will enhance the region to prepare for a net zero future e.g. enhancing young people’s STEM skills for the jobs of the future, de-carbonising community transport, community owned renewable projects.

The broad aim of the Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust is to assist charities and community groups (constituted & not for profit with charitable aims) working to improve the quality of life and life chances in the Stratherrick and Foyers areas, especially in circumstances where funding is particularly hard to find and where a grant can achieve significant impact in enabling groups to fulfill their own objectives. Grants are made to groups across a wide spectrum of social, welfare, heritage, educational and community development activity. The majority of funding is directed at locally based work involving, and often initiated by, members of that local community. They also make small sporting grants and educational grants available to individuals.

This Fund supports charitable activities or services of benefit to those living in the following Community Council areas in Caithness: Latheron, Lybster and Clyth; Watten; and Tannach and District. The outcomes for this Fund are:1. There are more and better opportunities to take part in sports and recreational pursuits2. Access to and through settlements is safer3. People of all ages enjoy more, better and varied activities and services4. Community life is enhanced and maintained through a wide range of activities, events and improved amenity of settlements5. Economic activity is encouraged within the Fund area6. People have more vocational skills and experience7. The natural and cultural heritage is more valued, experienced and understood by both visitors and residents8. Energy use in homes and community buildings is more sustainable9. Tourism opportunities are promoted and created in the Fund area.

SSE Renewables created the Sustainable Development Fund as part of its voluntary community benefit arrangements from its onshore renewable energy developments in Highland including the Stronelairg, Blaraidh, Strathy North and Dunmaglass wind farms.Successful projects will have the potential to deliver transformational social, economic and environmental changes in the local area, help the region prepare for a net zero future, and support long-term community development.The priority areas are:- Creating opportunities: increase opportunities for education and employment- Empowering communities: build resilience and protect vulnerable residents- Building sustainable places: stimulate meaningful community regeneration

The Fund supports individuals and organisations with a direct mining connection, who are in genuine need of financial assistance. They support charities to be sustainable through supporting trustees, helping understand legal and charitable requirements and access funds to help you develop. They actively support other mining charities to deliver services in local communities and can help with how to manage your funds and remain sustainable. They can fund a range of activities including: - the organisation and provision of outdoor and indoor recreational facilities - the provision and maintenance of convalescent accommodation and aid in the rehabilitation of the disabled- the promotion and maintenance of youth clubs and youth courses- co-operation with individual miners' welfare schemes and other centres in predominantly mining communities in promoting activities- the relief of distress occasioned by any accident occurring in the coal mining industry in Scotland involving the loss of life or serious or permanent injury to any person employed in the said industry

The Fund is provided by E.ON, the developer of the Rosehall Wind Farm. It aims to invest in activities and initiatives that help build a vibrant local economy, support and encourage thriving communities and make the area an attractive place to live, work and visit for people of all ages.The outcomes for the fund are to: 1. Strengthen, sustain and diversify the local economy through the development of established or emerging sectors.2. Encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in the local community with a view to stimulating economic and social growth.3. Increase community benefit by acquiring, developing, and using new community assets and maintaining and enhancing existing ones.4. Support measures designed to improve life chances and/or quality of life.5. Optimise local resources and assets through support for coordinated community activity.6. Support environmental improvements which give a physical, social or educational benefit.7. Support energy conservation and increased use of renewables through the promotion of energy efficiency and sustainability within the area. 8. Respond to unforeseen circumstances or opportunities that are in keeping with the broad fund outcomes identified above.

The Robin Rigg Community Fund is available to community groups and organisations in the Solway area undertaking activities that contribute to the reduction of the effects of climate change or otherwise benefit the local community.

It can fund projects that’ll do at least one of these things:- bring people together to build strong relationships in and across communities- improve the places and spaces that matter to communities- help more people to reach their potential, by supporting them at the earliest possible stage- support people, communities and organisations facing more demands and challenges because of the cost-of-living crisis.If you are applying for a project involving the arts, they will prioritise projects that: engage people from areas of high deprivation; remove financial barriers to access creative activities; address rural isolation and encourage activity in rural areas; engage older people, people in care homes and carers; engage care leavers; support integration of refugees and asylum seekers. If you are applying for a project focused on sport, they will prioritise projects that: engage young people from our most deprived areas; engage girls and young women; engage disabled young people.They are looking for projects that are connected to local people and their communities, and use their existing skills and experience. It is important to involve your community from the start - in the design, development and delivery of the activities you’re planning.
