Diabetes Scotland is part of national charity Diabetes UK, the UK’s leading diabetes charity. Our vison is to create a world where diabetes can do no harm.
Diabetes is the most devastating and fastest growing health crisis of our time, affecting more people than any other serious health condition in the UK - more than dementia and cancer combined.
The condition is one of the leading causes of preventable sight loss in people of working age in the UK and is a major cause of lower limb amputation, kidney failure and stroke.
There is currently no known cure for any type of diabetes. With the right treatment, knowledge and support people living with diabetes can lead a long, full and healthy life.
It is our job to tackle the diabetes crisis. We are here to campaign for and support everyone affected by diabetes, prevent type 2 diabetes, and fund research that will one day lead us to a cure.
Support for people affected by diabetes includes peer support for young people and families as it is often helpful to meet other people who live with diabetes and have been through a similar situation.
Diabetes Scotland couldn’t do the work we do without our valued volunteers. For more information about diabetes and our work, visit www.diabetes.org.uk.
