Overview

This is the first of two webinars with our new partners in SCVO's Financial Management Service, Wylie Bisset Group (WBG). Join Rory McCall, WBG's Director, for an introduction to the kind of support and guidance qualifying SCVO members can access on various topics, including audits and independent examinations, reporting, and finance policies. We will also look at the financial basics all trustees need to know to ensure effective financial governance in their organisation.

Overall aim

In this free lunchtime webinar we'll look at the basic financial knowledge you need to take up your role on a board. This will include:

  • Board responsibilities
  • A review of common accounting terms
  • Specific financial management and governance requirements for charities
  • Key terms you may see when reviewing your charity's accounts
  • Management accounts
  • Budgets and cashflow
  • Risk indicators
  • Internal controls
Who was the event aimed at?

This webinar is aimed at trustees, senior staff and those who support charities, with a non-financial background.

We really want to hear from you, so please submit your questions and comments in the 'Questions or comments' section of the booking form and we'll address them during the session.
