- Overview
SCVO is focussing on board recruitment and diversity during Trustees’ Week 2021. This good governance webinar will explore the benefits of having trustees on your board with experience of the issues your charity works on.
- Overall aim
This webinar will explore the benefits and barriers to help you bring new perspectives and informed voices onto your board.
- Description
Boards need a variety of attitudes, skills and experience to avoid group think and ensure good governance. But when many trustees are far from the world experienced by beneficiaries, it can be difficult to ensure you’re fulfilling your charitable objectives. This webinar will explore the benefits and barriers to help you bring new perspectives and informed voices onto your board. You will hear from organisations who are already proactively recruiting trustees with lived experience onto their boards to ensure better decision making and good governance.
Join Caroline Copeman, Consultant and Senior Visiting Fellow at City, University of London’s Bayes Business School who is leading work in this area to gather a range of resources about lived experience on charity boards.
Questions can be submitted in advance and during the webinar, and delegates will have the opportunity to share and reflect on best practice.
SCVO will also launch a special offer for Trustees Week 2021 where organisations in Scotland can advertise their board vacancy for free on Goodmoves during November and December. Your trustee vacancy will be seen by over 80,000 people who are actively looking to get involved in the sector.
