Today we’ve launched the 2022 Scottish Charity Awards with the invitation to organisations across the country to share their amazing stories of success and achievement over the past year.
Don’t hide your light under a bushel. Every organisation will have a story to tell about the impact they have on people and communities. We want to hear them. Putting yourself forward might feel a bit vain, but it’s really not.
Telling your story helps you stop and reflect on your achievements. Telling your story helps others learn from the things that you’ve done well. Telling your story gives recognition to the staff and volunteers that have put huge effort in to do amazing things. Telling your story helps you influence wider change. Telling your story might just help you secure further funding or new partnerships.
Last year’s Charity Awards finalists have told us that these things have happened to them. So don’t be modest, be proud, and complete an application now. Don’t leave it until the closing date on the 18th March!
We’ll be sharing the stories that we receive in lots of different ways, with the finalists being announced on the evening of June 15th.
Does that date ring a bell? Well that’s because we’ll be hosting the Awards on the first evening of The Gathering!
We know that after two years of minimising our contacts, people are eager to gather together again. I said in my blog last week, that we’re also missing the spontaneous conversations that occur when we bump into people, the joy of a hug with someone you’ve not seen in ages, and the opportunity to have chat to someone we haven’t met before. We felt that we wanted to make this year really special, and therefore decided to bring our two flagship events for the sector together, so that we could celebrate together, in-person, after such a long time apart.
Bookings to attend the celebration will open later in the year, and we expect very high demand. For now the best way to guarantee the best seat in the house is to put your achievements forward and get that application completed!
I can’t wait to celebrate with you, but most importantly, I can’t wait to hear all the amazing stories of what you’ve achieved last year.
