New partnership offers free cyber security support for SCVO members

Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has partnered with Keegan & Pennykid and cyber insurance specialist Coalition, to help our members protect their organisations from cyber-attacks. 

The partnership provides free access to cyber risk management platform, Coalition Control​^Ⓡ​, as well as offering education on cyber awareness and cyber insurance advisory services. 

SCVO members will be able to set up a Coalition Control​^Ⓡ​ account at no cost to their organisation and generate a comprehensive cyber risk assessment report that gives an instant real-time view of their cyber risk.  

The platform allows users to view their digital risk the same way as a cyber-criminal does. It reveals weaknesses in external facing systems, prioritising the most critical, and shares recommendations for remediating them. Users benefit from a cyber security checklist, visibility into specific systems that may have been compromised, personalised threat alerts and the ability to view the external-facing security profile of third parties. Additionally, members will have access to Coalition's security support team to help address areas of concern quickly and confidently.  

The non-profit sector is highly vulnerable to digital risk. 2024 cyber claims data gathered by Coalition has shown that funds transfer fraud incidents among non-profit organisations with under £25m revenue have risen in frequency by 63% year-on-year. Over a third of cyber-attacks on non-profits were attributed to compromises of business emails. 

SCVO understands that many of its members have limited, if any, cyber security capabilities in-house and that the impact of a cyber-attack could be crippling – potentially resulting in the loss of essential services.
