Independence undervalued: the voluntary sector in 2014
The third report of the Panel on the Independence of the Voluntary Sector. This was part of a five year initiative (2011-2016) established by the Foundation to bring together a group of authoritative sector figures to make a regular public statement on the state of voluntary sector independence in order to stimulate reflection, debate and action.
Areas covered in the report include: Lack of consultation over vital funding and policy issues Loss of identity and respect for independence Statutory Funding and contracting arrangements Ineffective safeguards and regulation Greater protection for independent governance Attacks on the sector’s voice Markets, not mission, becoming the driving force
