Coronavirus / COVID-19
Findings based on the analysis of an online YouGov survey that ran from 6-11 May 2020. The total sample size was 6,005 adults, aged 18-65.
Key findings
- Nearly one-third of lower-paid employees have lost jobs or been furloughed, compared to less than one-in-ten top earners
- employees in atypical work are also more likely to have been furloughed, or lost jobs or hours. For example, 31% of employees with variable hours, and 28% of employees on zero-hours contracts, have either lost their main job or been furloughed from it. Almost one-fifth (19%) of those previously on temporary contracts have lost their main job.
