The Third Sector and the Fourth Industrial Revolution - Pro Bono Economics 10th Anniversary Lecture
Copy of full speech given by Andy Haldane at Pro Bono Economics' 10th Anniversary Lecture on Wednesday 22nd May 2019.
In his speech he discusses:
- How poor measurement of the contribution made by the third sector inhibits its effectiveness
and understates its role. This includes issues around measuring GDP, including Andy's estimate that the current valuing of the third sector's GDP contribution of 1% should be closer to 10%.
- How new technologies could improve the effectiveness of the social sector, boosting its
societal contribution.
- How big societal shifts resulting from the Fourth Industrial Revolution may result in greatly
increased resources and responsibilities for the third sector.
