The third sector - discussions around key public policy issues
In early 2009 the ESRC, in collaboration with the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) and with support from the Scottish Government, organised a series of three public policy seminars in Edinburgh which drew together a wide range of third sector practitioners and leading academics in the field. This booklet summarises insights from the research presentations and discussions which took place during this programme of events. The three seminars were based around the following themes: ? the role of the third sector in the co-planning and delivery of local public services ? the likely effects of recession on the third sector in Scotland ? the capability of the third sector to provide innovative solutions geared towards meeting local needs
