The Scottish Government Urban Rural Classification is a 6 fold classification which distinguishes between urban, rural and remote areas. The Scottish Government commissioned this study to investigate the extent to which this classification is used, how it is used and by whom. The study combined desk research, an on-line questionnaire and telephone interviews.
