Who are the Capacity Builders? A study of provision for strengthening the role of local communities
Government policy increasingly relies on people being active in their local communities. This study provides a picture of the people who make this happen - community capacity builders. The study focuses on six contrasting local areas and draws on a major national study. It explains what community capacity building is and sets out a clear model for it; assesses the strengths and weaknesses of present provision for community capacity building; shows the connection between community capacity building and the local area agreements being brought in across England; recommends comprehensive local strategies based on a recently established set of clear objectives.
