This report seeks to understand the relationships, commonalities and differences between faith-based organisations and what is sometimes termed 'the mainstream voluntary sector'. It presents contributions from a number of authors on the place of faith-based organisations in civil society, faith as a motivation of voluntary action, the relationship between faith and social capital, and the role of faith-based organisations in governance and service delivery.
