Coul Links is a unique dune system on the Sutherland coast which is home to over 1,200 species. For the last five years a coalition of seven leading conservation charities have fought against the development of a golf course on the site, sustaining a lengthy public enquiry and mobilizing thousands of people to support their cause. Thanks to their efforts, in February 2020 the Scottish Government decided the development would not go ahead and the site would be saved. The Conservation Coalition consists of seven leading nature conservation charities: Buglife Scotland, Butterfly Conservation Scotland, Marine Conservation Society, National Trust for Scotland, Plantlife Scotland, RSPB Scotland and the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
