Liz Broumley - Cromarty Courthouse Museum
Why you should vote for Liz Broumley - Cromarty Courthouse Museum for the People’s Choice Award
Cromarty Courthouse Museum is a small independent charitable museum, with strong community roots, which tells the story of Cromarty through its inhabitants past and present. We are located in the heart of Cromarty’s fishertown in an A-listed eighteenth century courthouse, complete with original courtroom and cells, along with a community orchard.
Located on the Black Isle, north of Inverness, the museum tells the sometimes unexpected stories of Cromarty-folk and the spectacular landscape around the Moray Firth. Our multi-award winning team work together to create innovative digital ways to access the collections and find practical ways to support our community.
Despite facing profound disability herself, Liz has dedicated herself full-time over the last three years to supporting the museum. She applied for funding for the first professional member of staff in over a decade whilst she led a ground-breaking project to create a free audio tour on Cromarty’s links to slavery. Liz’s deep care and advocacy for accessibility has informed our entire approach and ethos as a charity. Her vision and drive has taken us from facing closure to a redevelopment project in 13 months. She is generous and curious, and has been transformational to our museum.
