- Overview
This online event is part of a series of free lunchtime webinars for SCVO member organisations and members of the SCVO Trustee Network. Jaslin Bhagrath, partner at Henderson Loggie, will provide an overview of what you need to know to understand your charity’s accounts. There will be lots of time for you to ask questions and share your own experiences, so you can learn from fellow trustees. You will also find out how to get access to further support.
- Overall aim
The role of a treasurer is to assist and advise the board in overseeing the finances, but it’s vital that all trustees collectively play their part in financial monitoring and decision making in their organisation. Charities have a legal obligation to report on their finances, and this webinar will help you be more confident to carry out your role effectively. We will look at:
- Accounting requirements – how your size and legal structure makes a difference
- Restricted, unrestricted, endowment and designated funds
- An overview of the reporting requirements for charities
- Accounting principles – what makes charities different?
- The importance of the Trustees’ Report
- Charity SORP
- Reserves policy
- Who was the event aimed at?
This webinar is for anyone who is new to being a trustee or is considering joining a board. It is also for anyone who has been a trustee for some time but would like a refresher.
