- Overview
With the climate crisis continuing to escalate and the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) taking place in Glasgow this year, climate change and sustainability should be a topic on everyone's mind. Voluntary sector leaders are becoming increasingly conscious of the need to be more involved in tackling this crisis regardless of your organisation's cause.
- Overall aim
This webinar aims to raise awareness of why climate change is relevant to non-environmental organisations and open up discussion about what these organisations can be doing to respond to the climate crisis and mitigate its affect on their communities. It also aims to identify some of the challenges facing organisations in adapting to the transition to net zero.
- Description
The Association of Chief Officers of Scottish Voluntary Organisations (ACOSVO) and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) have assembled a cross-sector panel of individuals who are leading the way on climate action in very different ways.
Join them and your peers for this virtual discussion and Q&A to get a sense of what your first steps could be. The event will include breakout rooms to give you a chance to tell SCVO and ACOSVO what kind of support you need to start addressing the climate crisis within your organisation and community.
Speakers:
- Clara Walker, Chief Officer, Forth Environment Link
- Kevin Havelock, Regional Director for Edinburgh & East, Corporate & Commercial and Climate Champion, Royal Bank of Scotland
- Jacquie Winning MBE, Chief Officer, Forth Valley Sensory Centre (SCVO Climate Conscious Finalist)
- Professor Iain Black, Professor of Sustainable Consumption, University of Stirling
This event will be chaired by Manish Joshi, chief executive of Strathclyde University Students Union and SCVO board member.
- Who was the event aimed at?
This event is aimed at Chief officers and senior staff within voluntary organisations and social enterprises. This is a cross-sector event so public and private sector colleagues are welcome.
