Overview

Are you a voluntary organisation looking to learn more about the climate emergency and build understanding and skills to make a positive difference in Scotland?

SCVO are working with Keep Scotland Beautiful on an exciting programme of training to help voluntary organisations and social enterprises tackle climate change and transition to a net zero society.

The training takes place every month between June 2022 to March 2023 and is available to book now. This booking link is for sessions 1 and 2:

Session 1 - Wednesday 27 July 2022, 14.00 - 16.30

Session 2 - Wednesday 3 August 2022, 14.00 - 16.30

Overall aim

The training consists of one day’s worth of learning (eight hours), which will be delivered online over two 2.5-hour live sessions, supported by self-study activities.

Part one: An introduction to climate change / Climate impacts and adaptation

Part two: Reducing emissions (mitigation) / Climate action and communications

The training will be accredited to meet the Carbon Literacy Standard, which is verified independently by the Carbon Literacy Project and successful participants will receive a certificate in Carbon Literacy.

Description

Why the training will help individuals and organisations take climate action

As an individual you'll find the training empowers you to take practical action on climate change, and develop skills and experience you can apply in the workplace, no matter what your role or what level of an organisation you work at.

And you'll have the opportunity to be certified as Carbon Literate - great for your CV as well as continued professional development.

If you and your organisation are in the early stages of considering your climate change impacts and planning for net zero, this training provides a fantastic opportunity to get you started.

The third sector plays a crucial role in supporting communities and individuals across a spectrum of activity, and voluntary organisations are adept at providing practical advice on what individuals can do to make a difference. Organisations with a Carbon Literate workforce will find they can develop more efficient and cost-effective operations.

Who was the event aimed at?

This training is funded through Scottish walking charity, Paths for All as part of their ‘The Smart Choices, Smarter Places’ (SCSP) COP26 Legacy Fund and CCLA Investment Management.

To be eligible to register for ‘Climate Emergency Training for the voluntary sector’ you must be based within a voluntary organisation or not for profit organisation (except political parties) in Scotland. Spaces are offered on a first come first serve basis and limited to three individuals per organisation.
