- Overview
In the modern era of recruitment, some say that Artificial Intelligence (AI) promises streamlined, efficient, and unbiased hiring. But does the reality match the aspiration?
Join Viana Maya, a dedicated antiracism educator and career development coach, and Lewis Davis-Poynter, Talent Lead at Public Digital, as we delve into the world of AI-driven hiring. We'll explore the potential pitfalls of algorithmic biases and uncover how AI can either perpetuate or challenge historical racial injustices.
As we commemorate Black History Month, we'll also shine a light on digital platforms that offer a rich understanding of Black history beyond slavery - emphasising the profound role of education in fostering workplace inclusivity.
During this session we hope to explore:
- The different ways that AI is being used in hiring today
- The potential benefits and risks of AI-driven hiring
- Strategies for mitigating bias in AI hiring systems
- How to use AI to create a more equitable and inclusive hiring process
Viana Maya FRSA, founder of Prespect, is an advocate for transformative change in career development, anti-racism, allyship, and beyond. Decorated with awards like the 2021 Institute of Directors Award for Innovation and a finalist in the Edinburgh regional IoD, her mission is to shake up established norms and deliver genuine social impact.
Lewis Davis-Poynter is Public Digital's talent lead. He manages and develops the organisation's talent function, working to create a leading candidate experience for everyone applying to Public Digital. He loves helping companies find great candidates and helping great candidates find jobs.
