Overview

Join us for a session exploring charity law and campaigning with confidence on political issues as a charity.

Description

Campaigning is a powerful tool for voluntary organisations to raise awareness and bring about positive change for the people and communities they support. Speaking up about the issues affecting those people and communities is an important part of many charities’ work.

Join us for this session as we explore OSCR's guidance for charities campaigning on political issues. We'll examine how charity law provides the legal framework for charities seeking to influence decision-makers, how charities can engage with politicians and political parties, and the practical considerations involved in joint campaigning.

With local elections on the horizon, the session will also touch on campaigning as a charity during election periods and the key considerations organisations should be aware of, so that they can engage confidently in their influencing activity while complying with charity law.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the session.

Speakers:

  • Steve Kent, Policy Manager, OSCR
