Overview

It can be difficult to know where to start with tackling the climate crisis.

Our new #GrowingClimateConfidence website supports charities, social enterprises and community groups across Scotland to take action on the climate emergency, support nature and biodiversity, and ensure a just transition to a low carbon future for our communities.

Developed with a wide partnership of third sector organisations and funders, and seed funding from the Scottish Government, these resources will help organisations work out where they can have the greatest impact and start to take action.

We would love to see you for the launch where we will hear from people working across the sector about action they are taking, and how they are overcoming challenges.

Overall aim

We will be joined by net zero experts and organisations that have made progress on their own climate journeys, as well as funders and project partners. We'll hear about actions to secure a more sustainable future for all of our communities.

At the launch event, you will:

  • learn more about our new resources and the stories of change from across the third sector
  • discover the actions you can take within your organisations
  • be inspired to take the Net Zero Scorecard
  • have the chance to share your own story, and help us develop the resources further
Description

The climate emergency affects us all. But as organisations across the third sector try to cope with rising running costs and increasing demand on services, environmental action can too often be pushed down the road.

For organisations that focus on social rather than environmental causes, it can be difficult to know where to start and what action will be most proportionate and impactful. As funders and procurement increasingly look for evidence of progress towards net-zero, some organisations are feeling lost.

Scotland’s third sector told us they need support to understand the climate crisis, and how they can take action - in their own organisations and with wider communities.

We support and encourage organisations to take their very first steps in reducing their carbon emissions while helping them to embed sustainability within their work.

This project is a unique collaboration with a wide range of partners. Each of us has a different part to play, and we expect to evolve the support over time.
