- Overview
The Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Act 2023 makes some important changes that will affect all charities registered with the Office of Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). The Act’s overall aim is to increase transparency and accountability of charities registered in Scotland, increase the powers of OSCR and update charity regulation. The Act will be implemented gradually, starting in 2024, and if you’d like to know more about how these changes might affect your charity, join us at our free Trustee Network lunchtime webinar.
- Overall aim
We will be joined by Gillian Harkness McKinlay, Director, Anderson Strathern, who will look at how OSCR will:
- maintain a publicly searchable record of charity trustees
- introduce new criteria for the disqualification of charity trustees and extend disqualification provisions to charity senior management roles
- appoint interim trustees and issue positive directions to charities
- require all charities in the register to have and retain a connection to Scotland
- remove unresponsive charities that fail to submit statements of account from the Register
- publish accounts for all charities in the Scottish Register
- create a record of charity mergers for the transfer of legacies
Bring your questions to see how these new charity law changes may impact you and your organisation.
