Building Healthier and Happier Communities is a national programme to improve the health and quality of life of people and communities across Scotland. It is starting in East Dunbartonshire, where
SCVO is working on a pathfinder with
East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action (EDVA), East Dunbartonshire Community Health Partnership, East Dunbartonshire Council and local third sector organisations to kick start a new approach to health and wellbeing, which taps into the third sector’s ability to help people lead healthier and happier lives.
In May and June 2014 the Building Healthier and Happier Communities project held four health inequalities themed networking events in Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch and Lennoxtown.
These event aimed to support participants to:
- Become better informed about health inequalities
- Have a greater understanding of differing community needs
- Have a greater understanding of how they might tackle local health inequalities
- Be better connected in order to collectively tackle health inequalities
You can get a summary of these events in this report.
