Career opportunities in advocacy

Advocacy services form a huge part of the work of the charity and voluntary sector in Scotland accounting for a quarter of job vacancies on These services work with a range of people including those who are experiencing mental ill health or sexual violence, people in the criminal justice or asylum system and children and young people.

What is advocacy?

Advocacy ensures people:

  • feel listened to, understood and know their options
  • have their rights are upheld and voices heard
  • are involved in decision making

Advocacy are run by the charity and voluntary sector in Scotland, independent from NHS, social and local authority services, provided free and confidentially by passionate and committed staff and volunteers across the country!
