Across the UK, governments have developed formalised models of partnership between the voluntary sector and government. In Wales, the Third Sector Scheme is set in statute. Northern Ireland continues to strengthen its approach. At the UK level, the UK Government has launched its own model of collaboration — the Civil Society Covenant.
SCVO believes that we also need the right infrastructure to enable a genuine partnership between the voluntary sector and public bodies in Scotland.
During one of our manifesto webinars in the spring we received feedback from the sector that such an initiative is worth pursuing and that, to be meaningful, this new partnership must be backed by clear accountability for delivery across the public sector.
SCVO will now work on developing this piece of work over the coming months. More details will follow.
