A Comparative Study of the Infrastructure of Voluntary Organisations in Scotland
The aim of this research was to provide HEACS with 1. an overview of the structure and operations of a cross-section of intermediary bodies in the voluntary sector and 2. an assessment of the key characteristics that contribute to the successful and effective operations of such bodies. This was intended to inform wider work HEACS is currently engaged in to develop recommendations for the future development of the infrastructure of the historic environment sector. The methodology included: *Desk research *Electronic survey of 13 intermediaries to identify structural and operational similarities and differences *Follow-up interviews with 3 intermediaries *Focus group to explore key characteristics and roles of intermediaires and the issues they face.
