Chose not lose the Right to Work
This report sets out the case for scrapping mandatory retirement ages. It argues that older people should have the right to work if they are willing and able. Ending mandatory retirement ages is the lynch-pin of effective age discrimination legislation. Unless MRAs are abolished, the new law will unravel. MRAs will be used to justify refusing to promote, retrain or recruit workers. Ending MRAs will play a key role in meeting the Government?s economic objective of extending working life and ensuring economic sustainability as the population ages.
