This study, by members and associates of the LSE's Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion, surveys the impact of the Labour Government's social policies since its election in 1997. Although the report highlights progress made for families with children, the research throws up other areas where more or better strategies are needed ? and reveals poverty levels for childless adults have grown. The study is a detailed review of policy areas and draws on more than 500 separate sources from evaluations of policy initiatives, government reports and statistics, and academic studies.
