Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2009
The Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) presents a picture of multiple deprivation across Scotland by combining 38 indicators across 7 domains, namely: income, employment, health, education, skills and training, housing, geographic access and crime. This method has been used to track multiple deprivation since the development of the first index in 2004. Taken together the three indices (2004, 2006 and 2009) provide a series of snapshots in time of the concentrations of multiple deprivation across the country. The findings will be of particular interest to anyone involved with community planning. In addition to the general report the Scottish Government has also published a number of supporting documents. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Statistics/SIMD PLEASE NOTE: On 4th October 2010, Scotland's Chief Statistician published an Update to the SIMD Income and Employment Domains.
