Ian has time for everyone, always willing to provide advice with a smile. His commitment, determination and positive outlook on life breathes a freshness that can sometimes be missing from socially deprived communities. Ian was raised in Easterhouse and has given over 50 years voluntary service with several charities, tackling inequalities and not afraid to raise questions others wouldn’t dare ask! Ian Monteague has been involved with FARE for 32 years and is now the current chairperson. Ian is passionate about reducing poverty in all its forms. He has assisted the organisation to grow from a community meeting in 1989 to employing 74 staff. FARE provide services throughout Glasgow and connecting local authorities working with some of the most disadvantaged communities. Ian’s drive and determination has helped lead the trustees at strategic level, while always having time to advise the staff team who deliver operational on the ground. Ian is a quiet humble gentleman who would help anyone in need.
