To further its legacy, the Galloway Glens Scheme is managing a fund of small maintenance grants to ensure that Galloway Glens funded projects can continue to deliver great outcomes for the communities they serve. This legacy funding is intended to extend delivery of the outcomes of the projects originally funded, and this will be the main criteria for assessment.

If you are interested in starting a tenant and resident’s association in your local area you can apply for a grant to help meet running costs of the group.The grant can cover the cost of:- Publicising and holding meetings- Responding to requests for help, from tenants and the Council- Producing information for those they represent- Keeping up to date with developments in housing- Organising events and initiatives that benefit their community

The council holds charitable trusts for the relief of poverty, those in need, and the provision of recreational facilities and activities for disadvantaged groups. Their priorities are:- The prevention or relief of poverty- The provision of recreational facilities or the organisation of recreational activities- The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantageApplications will be considered from individuals and organisations living in or who are assisting residents within: Kilbirnie and Glengarnock, Dalry, Kilwinning, and Largs.

SUEZ Communities Trust provides funds to undertake work that is eligible under the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund (SLCF). Applications are considered for the five main areas of work: - Land Reclamation (Object A): The reclamation, remediation, restoration or other operation on land to facilitate economic, social or environmental use- Community Recycling (Object B): Community based recycling, re-use and waste prevention projects- Public Amenities (Object C): To provide, maintain or improve an amenity that is used primarily for leisure and recreation. The amenity must be open to all sections of the community for at least 104 days a year- Biodiversity (Object D): The conservation of biodiversity through the provision, conservation, restoration or enhancement of a natural habitat or the maintenance or recovery of a species in its natural habitat- Historic Buildings, Structures or Sites (Object E): The maintenance, repair or restoration of a building, other structure or a site of archaeological interest which is a place of religious worship, or a site of historic or architectural or archaeological interest and is open to the public. Places of religious worship must Grade A listed.

Nadara Glenkerie Wind Farm Community Fund supports community projects benefiting those living within 15km of the Glenkerie Wind Farm. Although priority is given to applications from communities within 10 km of the wind farm (which includes Tweedsmuir, Broughton, Drumelzier and Coulter) other communities within the 15k radius are eligible to apply including Stobo, Biggar, Symington, Roberton, Lamington, Wiston and Skirling. The overall aims of the fund are to support activity which will sustain and develop the life of the community and ensure that the area is an attractive and vibrant place to live, work and visit. To achieve this, the Fund will support activity that will lead to the following outcomes:- Adequate access to services for community members- Supporting sustainable communities- Opportunities to grow the local economy- Developed or maintained community assets- Promote community spirit and encourage community activityGrant requests to support a wide range of costs and activities will be considered, such as equipment costs, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations, and maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities.
